My Time at Boys & Girls Club

During my time at the club I was involved in many different facets of the organization. During my first few months I participated in the art talent show that consisted of a puppet show, song and instrument portion, a drum show and many other talents. Also the annual "Lights on After School" took place in October. This was a great time for teachers from the local schools to come to the club and see the programs their students participate in after school. Yet another great opportunity I had was to participate in a "Day for Kids" where many different local companies and organizations came out to provide information and activities for the kids and their families.

I also have recently started participating in a Boys & Girls Program for middle school girls that focuses on positive self-image and making informed and smart decisions. This has been one of my favorite areas I have worked in during my time at the club. Knowing I am having an impact on younger girls that will postively influence them throughout their lives has been one of the most important aspects of my time volunteering.

Throughout my time at the club I have learned how important it is for volunteering and philanthropic efforts to be a major part of my life. After graudation, I plan to not only look for a career but to also find local organizations that I will be involved with. At some point in my life I would also like to sit on the board of a non-profit to better impact the people that organization serves.
