Throughout Gender, Wealth and Philanthropy; I have learned that at no matter what age or demographic, you can be a philanthropist. Welcome to my feature page that demonstrates myself as a philanthropist.
Mission Statement
I am passionate about changing the numbers of illiterate children in our world. I firmly believe that proper funding, a community awareness of the issue, and a solution to the problem will help improve the numbers of illiterate children. I am currently giving of my time, talent and treasure to support improvement and change. However, a time period is ambiguous, I believe that starting in smaller areas and working our way to bigger areas will greatly improve the numbers of those who are illiterate in our world today.
Values and Vision
I value education and literacy and hope to see one day that literacy within our nation and world no longer is an issue. Today, it is one of the biggest inhibitors of children bridging the education gap in lower income schools. Through Kappa Kappa Gamma and Reading is Fundamental, I dream that one day every child will experience the gift of reading and the far-away places it can take you.
Time, Talent, Treasure, Trust
I currently spend my time, talent, treasure, and trust on a local organization my sorority works with. Being involved with this philanthropy is one of the reasons literacy is so important to me. Reading is Fundamental works to put at least one book in every child's hand. I see this aspect of philanthropy staying with me and becoming part of my legacy I am creating now.
Philanthropic Legacy
My philanthropic legacy started with my mom, she was the one who inspired my sister and I to check out as many books as possible in the library and to read them all before the due date. I attribute my love of reading to her and hope to share all of the life lessons and moral lessons I learned through books with others. Due to this, being financially and philanthropically responsible allows me to create a timeless legacy that will continue to give when I am no longer here and hopefully will help solve the issue of world literacy.
